Where are the ASHP 2019 Summer Meetings being held?
The Summer Meetings are being held in Boston at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center. The address is 900 Boylston St., Boston, MA 02115.  

Whom do I contact if I require special assistance during the meeting?
If you have any disability for which you require an auxiliary aid while attending this meeting, please contact the Conference and Convention Division by email at ccd@ashp.org by May 3.

What is the attire for the Summer Meetings?
The attire at ASHP national meetings is business casual. When packing, keep in mind that the average high temperature for Boston in June is 77 degrees, and the average low is 59 degrees. Because hotels and convention centers are cool, ASHP highly recommends that you bring a sweater with you when attending sessions.

Is my child allowed at the meeting?
For health and safety considerations, children under the age of 16 years will not be admitted to the exhibits, poster sessions, or educational programs.

Is there an app for the ASHP 2019 Summer Meetings?

Will session materials be available for educational sessions?
Yes. Educational session materials will be available on the Itinerary Planner approximately two weeks before the meeting.

NOTE: Download and print the session materials in advance. Paper handouts and printers will not be provided at the meeting.

How do I claim my CE?
After participating in the educational activities of this meeting, attendees can process and claim their CE credit online through ASHP eLearning. Attendees claiming their CE online will be able to view their CE statements immediately. View detailed instructions.

How long after the meeting can I claim CE?
All continuing pharmacy education credits must be claimed within 60 days of the live session you attend. To ensure that your CE is accepted inside of ACPE’s 60-day window, plan to claim your CE before August 4, 2019.

When I register for one meeting, can I attend educational sessions at the other meetings?
Yes. Regardless of which meeting you register for, attendees will have complete and total access to all of the sessions and events happening across any of these specialized meetings.

Can physicians and nurses earn CE credits at all educational sessions?
Physicians and nurses may attend all sessions; however, physician and nursing credit will be offered only at the Medication Safety Collaborative.

 

Does the Hynes Convention Center have public parking?
There are multiple parking facilities around the Hynes. View a complete list of parking options. 

Can I smoke at the Hynes Convention Center?
Smoking, including tobacco products or electronic cigarettes (“e-cigarettes”), is never allowed in the building. Designated smoking areas are located outside.

Does the Hynes Convention Center have a business center?
Yes, there is a business center located in the convention center.

 

Can I bring a guest to the meeting?
Yes, however, an official guest program has not been scheduled during the meeting. Guests of registrants are welcome to purchase a la carte badges to the following specially planned events:

  • Sunday evening’s Grand Opening Reception in the Exhibit Hall from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. ($50)
  • Monday’s Opening Session (8:00 a.m. - 9:15 a.m.) and access to the Exhibit Hall on Monday ($60)
  • Tuesday’s Harvey A.K. Whitney Lecture Award Reception and Dinner from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. ($145)
  • Lunch in the Exhibit Hall on Monday. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. and lunch service begins at 11:30 a.m. (based on availability after 12:30 p.m.). You must be 16 years or older to enter the Exhibit Hall. ($60)
  • Lunch in the Exhibit Hall on Tuesday. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. and lunch service begins at 11:30 a.m. (based on availability after 12:30 p.m.). You must be 16 years or older to enter the Exhibit Hall. ($60)

Badges can be purchased onsite at Customer Relations, located in the Registration area.

Badges for the Grand Opening Reception and for daily lunches are available onsite only.


Can a guest attend the Opening Session on Monday?

Yes, guests may attend the Opening Session, but they must have a badge. Badges can be purchased onsite at Customer Relations, located in the Registration area. Badges are $60 and include access to the Exhibit Hall for Monday only.


Can a guest attend the lunch in the Exhibit Hall?

Yes, badges for Monday’s or Tuesday’s lunch can be purchased onsite at Customer Relations, located in the Registration area. Doors open at 11:00 a.m., and lunch service begins at 11:30 a.m. (based on availability after 12:30 p.m.). Badges for lunch are $60 for each day.


Does the Convention Center have a Mother’s Room?

Yes, a Mother’s Room will be available at the Convention Center. Please check the ASHP LIVE! app for exact location.


Does the Convention Center have a designated First-Aid Room?
Yes, a First Aid Room will be available at the Convention Center. Please check the ASHP LIVE! app for exact location. 


How do I purchase tickets for the Harvey A.K. Whitney Lecture Award Reception and Dinner?
Coupons for the dinner can be purchased while registering for the meeting (online or on the registration form) or during the meeting at Customer Relations in the Registration area. Coupons must be purchased by 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10. The cost is $145 and is nonrefundable.

Seating at the dinner is reserved, and coupons (received when you pick up your badge at the meeting) must be exchanged for a ticket and table selection by 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11, at Customer Relations in the Registration area.

Attire is evening formal, black tie optional.

What is the headquarter hotel?
The headquarter hotel is the Sheraton Boston Hotel.

What is the tax on the hotel rooms?
The current tax is 14.45% (subject to change).

Do the hotel rates include complimentary internet access?
If you book your hotel room through Orchid.Events, ASHP’s official housing company, your hotel rate includes internet access in your guest room.

Why shouldn’t we reserve our hotel room directly with the hotel or a discount internet provider?
The number of guest rooms reserved by ASHP attendees and exhibitors determines whether or not the meeting qualifies as a "citywide" convention. Fulfilling this standard requirement enables us to hold our meeting in the cities that meet our space, location, and rate criteria. It also allows us to receive all of the benefits and services reserved for citywide conventions and provided by the hotels and local Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Here are several other extremely important reasons for you to reserve your hotel room through our housing company:

  • You’ll have peace of mind that you made a reservation at an official ASHP hotel at the discounted ASHP rate.
  • You’ll be provided with complimentary access to the internet in your hotel guest room.
  • In the event the hotel has oversold guest rooms, you’ll have protection.
  • We can avoid financial penalties for not filling our room block commitments.
  • We can negotiate lower and more favorable rates for future meetings (more rooms equals greater buying power and lower costs for everyone).

How far is the airport from Hynes Convention Center?
Boston Logan International Airport is conveniently located less than 30 minutes from Hynes Convention Center.

Will ASHP shuttle service be provided to/from Boston Logan International Airport?
ASHP does not provide shuttle service to/from the airport and the hotels. A variety of shuttle/car/bus services are available at Logan International. The Logan Express Back Bay route provides airport shuttle service to the Hynes Convention Center, which is walkable to official hotels.

Will ASHP provide shuttle service to the Convention Center each day?
All hotels are within easy walking distance of the Hynes Convention Center and, thus, shuttle service is not required. View the Hotel map.

What are the hours and location for onsite registration?

Satellite Registration is also offered for preregistered attendees and exhibitors.

Preregistered Attendees: Bring your registration confirmation barcode with you and scan it at our satellite registration stations to pick up your badge.
Exhibitors: You are welcome to use the satellite registration. Just type your name, show your ID, and pick up your badge.
